Lam hails derby victory

Wigan Warriors Head Coach Adrian Lam has praised his side after their win against St Helens.

It was Lam’s first victory in the derby as Head Coach, after five previous losses, and it was the Warriors’ first victory over their rivals since the Super 8s in 2018.

Lam expressed his pride at the result.

He said: “I’m really proud of the aggression and intent. It was one of the best games I have seen for a long time, neither side made errors, there was no penalties.

“They were all great. Consistent across the board. Leuluai was outstanding, Hastings was too.

“It was a Wigan performance. We needed to play well, we were due that. It was tough, it was in the balance for a long time.

“As a player, we had that dominance but Saints have been a great club for the past few years and it was good to get a win as a Head Coach. I’m more pleased for the players.”
