Saturday’s match is the Saints’ first on the road in the 2024 Betfred Super League season and, as is always the case with the first away day of the year, the Saints faithful are turning out in number with 1,200 already fans confirmed to be in the away end at the John Smith’s.

Both the Saints and the Giants head into this Round Two clash on the backs of season opening wins last Friday night. Our Red V put London Broncos to the sword in a convincing performance, winning 40-4, whilst Ian Watson’s Huddersfield bested Leigh Leopards at the Leigh Sports Village by 8 points to 16 in a tough tussle.

The St Helens boss Wellens makes just two changes to team declaration that was posted for the opening victory over London, with Morgan Knowles and Moses Mbye in contention to mark their first appearances of the new season and come into the 21-man squad, while Konrad Hurrell and Jake Burns are the men who step out from last week.

With this Saturday’s match being the first home game of the season for Huddersfield, and both sides wanting to start the new campaign with back-to-back wins for an early mark of intent, it should make for an enthralling game. The club has confirmed that over 1,200 Saints supporters have their tickets secured already to head over to Huddersfield.

It has been unconfirmed as to why Hurrell has been left out of the 21-man squad but it could be due to an injury concern.

If dropped it is a big decision but either way the squad named is certainly a strong one and it should make for a big game with the Huddersfield Giants.
