Kevin Brown backs surprise Super League side to “peak at the right time” and challenge for Old Trafford

This Super League season has been a peculiar season.

Catalans Dragons currently sit top of the league whilst Wigan Warriors and St Helens have had their ups and downs.

One of the most interesting teams has been Warrington Wolves with the Primrose and Blue starting the season with eight wins in a row but they are now wobbling.

However, ahead of their clash with Leeds Rhinos tonight Kevin Brown has claimed that the Wolves will peak at the right time and challenge for the Grand Final.

“Sometimes when expectations go through the ceiling like Warrington’s did, it’s really easy to look pessimistic after a couple of losses,” he said on BBC Five Live.

“I think Warrington will just peak at the right time.

“It’s hard to have that momentum all year as a team and there are a few factors that have just dropped them below the standards they want to be.

“Let’s not forget they’re missing two of their star half-backs as well at the minute so when they get the team back on the field, I think they’ll be fine.

“They’re sat in a really good place and in terms of Daryl Powell not having much credit with fans, I agree, but what they’ve got is points in the bank so they can have this little wobble.

“They’ll come good again, they’re a good side and he’s a good coach and I just think some optimism and a little bit of calm is needed around Warrington.”
