Josh Reynolds accuses England international of grabbing his genitals

England international Tom Burgess and former Hull FC star Josh Reynolds were involved in a controversy yesterday.

As Reynolds’ new club, the Canterbury Bulldogs, battled the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Reynolds was penalised for dissent as he protested after helping tackle big prop Burgess.

It turns out Reynolds wanted a penalty himself and maybe more for something that Burgess did in the tackle.

Reynolds claimed that Burgess had grabbed his genitals and replays showed that there may have been something in Reynolds’ claims.

However, the referee dismissed his protests whilst the bunker also found nothing to penalise.

Now the match review panel in the NRL has come to the same conclusion.

That said, Fox League have shared images that do indicate that Reynolds at least had an argument to make.

You can see them here.

Speaking of Fox League, whilst covering the game for the channel, former Melbourne Storm and Sydney Roosters Grand Final winner Cooper Cronk took issue with Reynolds’ behaviour describing it as “poor play.”

“Josh Reynolds was protesting to the referee that something had happened,” Cronk said on the live broadcast.

“And he never retreated offside and then got involved in the tackle. It’s the guy that had just come on the field to make an impact and chase down the scoreboard so it’s a poor play from Reynolds.”
