Josh Hodgson set for stunning u-turn in transfer move

Josh Hodgson’s future is set to be sorted this week, but, after being so close to a Wests Tigers move, the Englishman is now set to u-turn.

His side, the Canberra Raiders, have started pre-season this week with Hodgson set to report to the club’s pre-season as officials believe he will remain in the capital, according to The Canberra Times.

Hodgson’s future has been one of the main stories in recent months, with the Englishman entering the final year of his contract after moving to Canberra ahead of the 2015 NRL season.

Whilst the 32-year-old has been vital to the Raiders’ charge into the play-offs in recent years, Hodgson has found himself being slowly forced out by young number nine Tom Starling.

Starling, meanwhile, has been spoken to by police in New South Wales for the second time in under a year after trying to attend a club – only to be refused entry – which could jeopardise Starling’s future at Canberra. The young number nine’s court case is expected to be heard today.

Hodgson has been a firm fan favourite in the Australian capital since joining in 2015, with over 150 games under his belt for the Raiders, but his contract runs out at the end of 2022 and Canberra look destined to not renew.
