Last night it was Last’s night as Castleford Tigers’ interim boss Andy Last picked up his first win at only his second attempt in charge at the Jungle.
Last has taken the reigns at the West Yorkshire club since the departure of Lee Radford after two games.
In his second game in charge, the Tigers hosted last year’s Grand Finalists Leeds Rhinos and picked up a win that kick start their season which naturally sparked huge celebrations.
After the game, Leeds legend Jamie Jones-Buchanan said they deserved to celebrate like that:
“I’d say a win is a win, you have to enjoy winning in sport. Momentum is a big thing in sport, they will start believing in themselves.”
He went on to say that he hopes Andy last gets the job full time despite the fact former teammate Danny Ward is up for the position:
“I hope Andy Last gets the job. He has worked hard and got this result, back him.”
That said he did suggest that the win only papers over the cracks:
“It papers over the cracks, they will forget about them things. They’ll enjoy this.
“They are walking round the ground like they have made the play-offs or the final at Wembley.
“That is what it means to them.
“They never lacked intensity or effort.”
