Wakefield Trinity are still chasing their first win of the season and there is no extra pressure on them.
This is because Thursday night Castleford Tigers defeated Leeds Rhinos meaning Trinity are the only side remaining who are yet to win in 2023.
It doesn’t get any easier for them as they take on Salford Red Devils this weekend away after the Red Devils won 60-14 against Hull FC last week.
Speaking ahead of the game on Sky Sports, Terry O’Connor has emphasised the threat facing Wakefield:
“I have been really impressed with Salford. You talk about playing decent, attractive rugby well Salford do that but they defend as well.
“They scored 60 last week against Hull FC but what Paul Rowley has done is he has brought in a brand of rugby and even if they lose players the new players buy into the systems and the culture and that is why they perform.”
However, Phil Clarke has warned that Wakefield could pick a win at any point and that surviving is in their blood:
“Teams get wins when we perhaps don’t expect them which is why we like Super League with those shocks.
“It is impossible to guess when Wakefield will get their first win but they will get some.
“They have something in that club that 20 years has taught them to survive and not being relegated and that has been in their lifeblood.”
