“It ain’t working” – Rangi Chase gives Castleford Tigers verdict after Leeds Rhinos defeat

After two huge wins over two teams in the top four in the shape of Catalans and Huddersfield, yesterday Castleford’s great form hit a brick wall.

The Tigers – after downing teams in the top four – lost to a side who started the day in the bottom four well and truly opening the door for that team – the Leeds Rhinos – to claw themselves into the play-off picture.

The Tigers had control of the game at the break leading 10-6 but a second half blitz from Leeds thanks to tries from Ash Handley, Aidan Sezer, Richie Myler, James Bentley and Liam Sutcliffe gave Leeds a statement win and leaves Lee Radford back at the drawing board especially with no natural halfback options which forced him to play winger Greg Eden at six yesterday.

Speaking of halfbacks, one of Castleford’s most famous halfbacks took to Twitter to give his opinion on the game.

Rangi Chase was Castleford Tigers for some time around the early 2010s even winning the Man of Steel in 2011 a season where he nearly inspired them to Wembley.

Now looking at the Tigers from the outside the self confessed Cas fan gave his take on what went wrong: “From a Cas fan… It doesn’t look or they know what’s going on from someone watching as a fan… But I’ve been there done that. And you can’t blame the players cos we all want to win. Or the coach. But it ain’t working.”

The Tigers will look to get back on track next week against former coach Daryl Powell and his struggling Warrington side.
