“I’ll still be in the South Stand” – Darts sensation Luke Littler on his beloved Warrington Wolves

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock over the festive period you’ll have heard the name Luke Littler plenty, the 16-year-old darts sensation who is a huge Warrington Wolves fan.

Darts has often had players break through at a young age and take the oche by storm but Littler has become the youngest ever to make the World Championship final, defeating 2018 world champion Rob Cross last night to book his spot in tonight’s final.

The fairytale story is all the better given that Littler is just your totally normal 16-year-old who loves his Xbox and his local sports team, that team being Warrington Wolves.

Luke ‘The Nuke’ has made his love for the Wire clear throughout his run to the final and even dons a darting shirt bestowed in the clubs primose and blue colours.

He’s already secured himself a whopping £200,000 but he’s promised that he’ll be on the terraces at the Halliwell Jones Stadium this coming season, with the newfound fame not set to change or alter the love for his club.

As the tournament has progressed and the path to the final cleared up with former champions falling the spotlight on Littler has increased and increased, with more media and fans coming to the fore.

Among those fans who met him prior to his semi-final last night were some of Warrington’s star players as well of the club’s mascot Wolfie.

In fact on Littler’s walk to the stage he seemed even more excited to see Wolfie than he did his own family, showcasing the love for his club.

Warrington shared posts to their Instagram account with Littler meeting wingers Matty Ashton and Josh Thewlis, the teen sensation presented with his own ‘Littler 180’ shirt.

The clip was shared by the PDC via their X platform and saw Ashton jibe that Littler will be abandoning his South Stand allegiance with his new found fame and fortune, however Littler replied: “I’ll still be in the South Stand”.

Littler looks to become the second rugby league fan in a row to win the World Championship after St Helens’ Michael Smith beat Michael Van Gerwen in an epic final 12 months ago.

Coverage of Littler’s final against Luke Humphries can be seen on Sky Sports Main Event from 7:30pm tonight with all of Warrington and much of the rugby league fandom cheering the teenager on.

Could it finally be Warrington’s year?
