Hull to honour Shaul contract despite injury

Hull FC can confirm that Jamie Shaul is expected to face an extended spell on the sidelines due to an ACL knee injury, but the club will still honour their contract offer to the player.

The long-serving full-back suffered significant damage to his knee during Sunday’s 48-6 victory over Castleford Tigers at the KCOM Stadium, including a ruptured ACL.

Shaul will go for surgery to fix the issue in the coming weeks.

The 28-year-old was off-contract at the end of this season, but the club had made him an offer to extend his time with the Black & Whites prior to the injury.

Hull FC interim head coach, Andy Last, told the club website: “We are all really disappointed with news, none more so than Jamie, but as a club we will ensure he gets the support and medical care he needs to help him through this period.

“I’m really pleased for him that the club have stood by their offer which will give him some peace of mind and security, which will enable him to focus fully on his recovery.”
