Hull KR lock in home pre-season tie with Championship side

Hull Kingston Rovers have confirmed that they will welcome Sheffield Eagles to Craven Park in late January as part of Willie Peters’ side pre-season schedule.

The news of the Eagles arrival comes hours after it was confirmed that Rovers will head to face Leeds Rhinos at Headingley a week later, February 4th, for James Donaldson’s Testimonial game with the second-rower having previously played for the Robins.

Both Sheffield and Hull KR took to their social media channels to confirm the date for the pre-season clash, with the Eagles sharing a short message on their club website.

It read: “Sheffield Eagles can confirm that we will travel to the Sewell Group Craven Park to face Hull Kingston Rovers on Sunday 28th January with a 3pm kick-off.

“It will be the first time since 2017 that the Eagles have faced the Robins. The match has the potential to feature a father versus son match-up as Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e has the chance to face off with his son Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e who could play for the Super League side.

“Tickets for the friendly will be on sale on Sunday 17th December and all sales will go through Hull KR, who have confirmed their with prices as below.”

Prices for the clash saw adults max out at £14 in West Stand whilst both East and North Stand tickets were cheaper at £12.

The Robins also shared a brief message about the game, confirming where it landed within their pre-season schedule which as yet has only seen the Rhinos game confirmed.

Rovers shared: “Hull KR can confirm the dates and times for our pre-season friendlies beginning at Sewell Group Craven Park against Sheffield Eagles on Sunday 28th January with a 3pm kick-off.

“It will be the first time since 2017 that the Robins have faced the Eagles and the South Yorkshire side will bring a physical test ahead of the 2024 season. The match also has the potential to feature a father versus son match-up as young Robin, Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e has the chance to face off against his dad, Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e, who plays at fullback for the Eagles.

“As confirmed earlier today, our second pre-season friendly will take place at AMT Headingley Stadium, as we face Leeds Rhinos in James Donaldson’s Testimonial Sunday 4th February, 2:30pm kick-off. The back rower played 79 games for the Robins before moving on to the Rhinos.”

Robins fans will be keen to see new signings such as Peta Hiku, Tyrone May, Oliver Gildart, Kelepi Tanginoa, Jai Whitbread, Niall Evalds and AJ Wallace.
