Hull KR confirm two pre-season fixtures including one to celebrate testimonial of ex-Hull FC man and one against Leeds Rhinos

Yesterday, Hull KR confirmed that pre-season testing will begin for their squad, those that are available and not involved in the World Cup, in two weeks.

So, their preparations for the 2023 campaign under new coach Willie Peters will commence on the 24th October.

Now the Robins have two pre-season friendlies pencilled in for next season as they begin a new era at Craven Park.

The first will take place on January 20th on Friday 20th January 2023 up against Featherstone at the Millenium Stadium.

This is because they are playing the Rovers to celebrate Featherstone star Craig Hall’s rugby leahue testimonial.

Hall has been granted a testimonial after 16 years in the game making waves for both Hull FC and Hull KR as well as spending time with Wakefield and Leigh before joining the Rovers in 2020 winning the Ray French Award in the 1895 Cup Final in 2021 as well as the Championship Player of the Year.

On facing his former club in a testimonial game, Hall told Featherstone’s website: “I’d like to thank Hull KR for agreeing to be the opponents for my testimonial game.

“I left the club in the off season of 2019 to join Featherstone and so I never got a chance to say goodbye and give my thanks to the Hull KR fans that have always been behind me when I was playing for the team I supported from a young age.

“It would be great to see The Millennium Stadium packed out so I would be able to give my thanks to both sets of fans who have always been behind me.”

Set for another big season at Fev under new coach Sean Long, he will be celebrated in a match between the Rovers and the Robins in January before Hull KR continue their preparations on 5th February against Rohan Smith’s Leeds Rhinos who are hoping to go one step further in the 2023 campaign to lift the Super League trophy.
