Hull KR boss Willie has become the first Super League coach to address the new rules around contact with the head.
We saw plenty of talking points around this in the opening game which involved Hull KR as they took on a Hull FC side who suffered three cards.
However, things really came to a head with the red card shown to Liam Watts.
Peters himself addressed this: “I haven’t looked at it closely, but at times you need to tackle to get someone running and you need to tackle together. Now, have a look into that pitch. You’re gonna be pretty slippy underfoot as well.
“I don’t know whether the player went down or he didn’t bend enough or what the reason was, but you need to put your body in front. And then that’s what players need to do. And as I said, sometimes they don’t have time to do certain things that’s asked of them. So we just need to take that into consideration.”

Peters also had a massive warning for the sport ahead of the rules reaching another level in 2025 with tackle height set to be lowered in Super League as it has been in the amateur game this year.
He said: “Well, it’s one of those I’ll worry about when we need, but with the amount of cards that we had on the weekend then if we’re bringing that law in next year then we can double it.
“I’m all for my safety. I’m all for where the games going, there’s no doubt about that, but as staff and players we need to keep working on it.
“You won’t have anyone playing if we’re going to give out cards out left, right and centre. But again, if they’re warranted, you give a card.”
Hull KR take on Leeds Rhinos with both sides no doubt hoping the game doesn’t play host to the fifth red card in just seven games.

I think he’s right, boxers get belted for 20 years plus ( yes one in a thousand, May get damage. But it’s what they choose to do, like steeple jacks ( one fall is enough ) but it’s what they choose to do. For gods sake, if you don’t play the game, stop spoiling it for the majority. Spectators like a bit of agro ( some even go to see if it will kick off, Gordon Tallis was worth your entrance fee alone.
