Huge fixture pushed back

In a sensational last day of the Super League season with Wigan Warriors securing the League Leaders’ Shield, Warrington Wolves sneaking into the play offs and Leigh Leopards losing fourth spot to Hull KR.

It was full of drama and controversy and was one of the best finales in Super League history.

If you thought there was drama in Super League, that will certainly be the case in the Championship too with a relegation battle going to the death in the second tier.

If Keighley Cougars or Swinton Lions lose by more five points they will drop below Whitehaven who have already played.

The team who loses by the most will be relegated. If neither side lose by more than five points or if they both avoid defeat, Whitehaven will be relegated.

This perhaps gives them an unfair advantage as they know exactly what they need to survive whereas Whitehaven can only watch on.

Championship fans can expect a finale similar to that in Super League.

But the drama has started before kick off with Swinton Lions’ trip to the Halifax Panthers delayed.

The game was delayed 15 minutes due to accidents on the M62 which had an impact on travel.

The game is huge for Halifax Panthers as well as Swinton Lions.

This is because Simon Grix’s men are hoping to secure their spot in the Championship play offs and keep their hopes of returning to Super League for the first time since 2003 well and truly alive as we enter the play offs.
