Huddersfield Giants announce record growth heading into IMG era

Huddersfield Giants

Huddersfield Giants have announced huge digital growth over the past year, something that is set to aid the club massively in the IMG era as they push for Grade A status in Super League.

The Giants ranked ninth among the 35 professional clubs with a high Grade B score of 13.49 when the preliminary grades were announced back in October.

That saw them just 1.51 points from Grade A status which guarantees a place in Super League, something the Giants are obviously aiming for.

Having made significant signings such as Adam Clune, Jack Murchie and Adam Swift to help improve their on field performance, the club have now reported this huge increase in online interactions.

That will help them increase their fandom pillar, worth five points, with digital interactions making up a portion of the points and the Giants look to have taken major strides.

In a statement posted on their site, they announced the news.

“For the 2nd year running Huddersfield Giants have seen fantastic online growth as we head into IMG.

“The Huddersfield Giants, for the second season running, are proud to reveal that we have broken through previous online and digital media records set in 2022 again in 2023.

“Last season we posted incredible growth and viewership in our online following and digital content, it was a testament to not only the success on the field as a club during the 2022 season, where we finished 3rd in the Super League and reached the Challenge Cup Final, but also the efforts put into growing our club off the field by all the backroom staff who work tirelessly to make the day-to-day and matchday experience of all Giants fans the best it possibly can be.

“Yet despite what we all agree was an underwhelming season for the club in 2023, we all continued to strive to be the best that we could be in every aspect of the team and these efforts have been rewarded by once again achieving record stats in our online following and digital content.

“We have continued to see a healthy growth in our online following with a 99.5% net following increase from 2022 on Facebook and Instagram highlighting this. This growth has also been reflected in the engagement and stats from the content itself. Videos were viewed over 3.3 million times across all platforms an astonishing number given the size of our following on social media. These stats were also helped by the re-introduction of the Huddersfield Giants YouTube platform, a place we as a media team are really looking to target in the 2024 season with a goal of 1,200+ subscribers the aim, if you want to help reach that goal click here.

“The media team posted 7267 times between January 1st and December 11th that is the equivalent of posting something once every 68 minutes for the entire season, showing the continued commitment to give all the fans as much insight as possible into the club they support.

“We as a club are more than aware of the importance and the place that social media and an online presence is in the modern day, especially right now in Rugby League with the involvement of digital media giants IMG leading the way into a new era for the sport.

“We know, as a club and a team, where we need to grow and improve and we are striving to do that every day, we are trying new things and setting targets for 2024 but as always we need the support of our fans to help grow, reach and inspire a new audience and attract the next generation to be a part of our great club. We can’t wait for 2024 and hope that you are there with us every step of the way.”
