How to get involved in Kevin Sinfield’s ‘Seven in Seven in Seven’ challenge

Today marks the first day of Kevin Sinfield’s incredible new fundraiser, the ‘Seven in Seven in Seven’ challenge and fans have the opportunity to see off the former Leeds Rhinos captain on his journey.

Sinfield and his team will be taking on seven ultramarathons, in seven days, across seven cities, with today being the first step in that epic challenge.

Of course the ex-Rhinos captain is raising both awareness and funds to combat Motor Neurone Disease, the illness that former Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow is battling.

Thus far Sinfield’s efforts and the generosity of the public have helped raise millions with the Rob Burrow Centre for MND being built thanks to those funds, whilst money also goes towards directly helping those who suffer from MND.

The first leg of this seven day epic challenge begins at midday with Sinfield taking off from Headingley, however fans can attend with gates opening from 10am.

Moreover the Rhinos squad will be arriving from 11:00am before Sinfield addresses the crowd at 11:45am, marking what will be the start of his emotional journey.

Travelling to York on day one Sinfield’s journey will finish just outside the famous Minster with his progress available to be tracked online via this link.

Sinfield had spoken with the press last Friday discussing his challenge in which he made the emotional claim that these challenges and the running had showed him why he was “here on this earth”.

Discussing the incredible journey that he’s been on since Burrow’s diagnosis in December 2019 he talked about the wider MND community and also the public’s growing awareness around the disease.

He stated: “We cannot measure how we’ve made people feel and that’s probably going to be more important. Of course we understand the awareness is crucial, we understand the films will make such a difference to trying to find a cure for this disease, but along the way how have we made people feel and have we inspired people to get off the couch and try and do their little bit? Have we inspired people to be better friends?

“I hope we’ve been able to do all of those things and within our team we’ve certainly got a great deal of fulfilment and it’s showed me exactly why I’m here on this earth and that’s to try and help. I don’t think there’s a greater gift of providing hope for a community that need our support, need our love and need our respect.”
