Featherstone Rovers and Halifax Panthers’ rivalry goes back a long way.
And, following Featherstone’s 34-12 loss to Toulouse Olympique in the Championship Grand Final – or, the Million Pound Game – Halifax were quick to taunt Rovers.
Featherstone had beaten the Panthers in the semi-final of the Championship play-offs in order to qualify for a trip to the south of France, but Rovers were just beaten by a better side on the day.
It also means that Featherstone will have to ply their trade in the second tier of rugby league after failing to earn promotion twice in the past three occasions.
Rovers do, however, remain part-time which has limited both their spending and ability on the field, but with Toulouse now out of the way, Super League could surely beckon in 2022.
Congratulations @TOXIII. Worthy winners of the Betfred Championship in 2021!
