Former Australia and Queensland prop Webb diagnosed with MND

Former Australia and Queensland prop Carl Webb has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

The 38-year-old retired in 2011 after making over 150 appearances for Brisbane Broncos, North Queensland Cowboys and Parramatta Eels.

He also represented Queensland 15 times and earned one cap for Australia.

Motor neurone disease slowly decreases the ability of the central nervous system and often leads to muscle frailty in those who suffer it.

He is the second former player to be diagnosed with MND in recent months, following Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow, who has since received extraordinary support from the rugby league community.

Webb has already started to receive support of his own, from Queensland Rugby League and Australia’s Men of League Foundation, who offer support to ex-players who experience adversity or fall on hard times.
