Five Super League clubs set to make major transfers ahead of new season

Salford Red Devils star and Catalans target Oliver Partington playing against Leeds Rhinos

Most Super League clubs have completed their recruitment ahead of the 2024 Super League season.

Leeds Rhinos have an entirely new spine with the arrival of Lachie Miller and former Huddersfield Giants halfback Matt Frawley from the NRL as well as a double coup for £300,000 for Brodie Croft and Andy Ackers from Salford Red Devils.

Hull KR meanwhile have drafted in some huge names as have Wigan Warriors bringing in Luke Thompson and Kruise Leeming after their stints in the NRL.

St Helens have also completed some astute if underrated business most notably the arrival of Waqa Blake.

But there are five Super League clubs set for further business so here they are.

Warrington Wolves

Warrington Wolves looked like they had completed their transfer business for the 2024 Super League season but they then released Sam Kasiano which threw a spanner into the works as the new season looms.

The Wolves are looking for a prop to replace the former Catalans Dragons and Melbourne Storm prop forward. Most of their options in Super League are off the table unless they look to sign Oliver Partington again.

They are more likely to use a quota spot to sign someone like Aaron Pene from the NRL.

Hull KR

Luke Gale of Wakefield Trinity

Hull KR looked like they had completed their transfer business for the 2024 season until they allowed Jordan Abdull to join Catalans Dragons.

Since then they have signed Joe Burgess but have also left the number 18 shirt vacant as they look to add another new face for the new season.

The Robins moved to sign Luke Gale recently but were unsuccessful and appear set to explore possibilities around signing a halfback to replace Abdull in 2024.

Salford Red Devils

Salford Red Devils perhaps the only club likely to bring in multiple faces ahead of the new Super League season.

The Red Devils have been in the market for a prop since the end of last season but after losing both Ken Sio and Joe Burgess, the club have been interested in signing a winger to replace them.

The club are one of the few who have a quota spot available to use and this could be used on either a prop or a winger ahead of the new season.

The club have a month till they start the season against Leeds Rhinos.

London Broncos

London are set to draft in a winger ahead of the new season having left the number two shirt vacant ahead of the new Super League season.

This winger is likely to be Lee Kershaw after he spent time training with Leeds Rhinos after leaving Wakefield Trinity.

Kershaw has joined London on trial after spending time with the Rhinos at Headingley. The Broncos also have quota spots open due to being late to recruitment and could snap up someone like Pene.

They could also exploit the new quota rules to sign players from the New South Wales Cup or Queensland Cup.

Leigh Leopards

Though the Leigh Leopards have confirmed their squad numbers for 2024, we saw last year they can add players late in the game.

They were active throughout the season bringing in the likes of Umyla Hanley, Frankie Halton and Oliver Gildart and they could do so again in 2024 by bringing in a winger or a fullback late in the day which is the area they wanted to target after losing Ben Reynolds.

The club have recently missed out on Tristan Sailor after he was denied his release ahead of the season due to Brisbane Broncos being unable to secure a replacement.

The club have been one of the best at identifying opportunities in the transfer market and taking action.
