Featherstone Rovers launch new 2024 home shirt

Featherstone Rovers are one of rugby league’s historic sides and they’ve now announced the release of their home shirt for 2024 with the shirt looking set to be an instant classic.

Rovers will feel hard done by not to be showcasing the shirt in Super League this upcoming season after having stormed the Championship and securing the title by a margin of 12 points to rivals Toulouse.

Despite that the Super League dream came tumbling down when eventual Grand Final winners London Broncos defeated them at Post Office Road to condemn Featherstone to yet another season in the Championship.

Nevertheless Rovers will be showing off an impressive looking kit in the Championship for 2024 with their new design confirmed today, a predominately white strip with a blue chevron across the midriff and more blue around the neck and badge area.

It marks a switch up from last season’s predominantly blue shirt that saw thin white hoops and it also features the clubs new front of shirt sponsor, Bartercard.

The shirt can be seen at the bottom of the article or via the link to Rovers’ website, here.

Featherstone will be hoping that the shirt brings more success than the 2023 version, a season that had promised such success but ultimately fizzled out with their playoff loss. It was a season that saw newly appointed head coach Sean Long dismissed whilst Director of Rugby James Ford had to take the reigns of head coach to see out the season.

The club have also seen a huge turnover in players with 17 of their squad from 2023 having departed the club including some of the team’s brightest prospects and biggest stars. Among those to have left Post Office Road include Luke Briscoe, Mathieu Cozza, Matty Wildie, Joey Leilua, Dane Chisholm, Mark Kheirallah, John Davies, Craig Hall, Junior Moors, Arama Hau, James Lockwood, Elijah Taylor, Daniel Smith, Tyla Hepi, Craig Kopczak and Johnathon Ford.

Despite that massive turnover the club have managed to hold onto the likes of Caleb Aekins and Gareth Gale whilst also landing the coup of Challenge Cup winner Ben Reynolds who joins from Leigh Leopards and will provide plenty of playmaking ability for the Flat Cappers.

They have also confirmed the signing of former Warrington Wolves winger Greg Minikin who will be a solid replacement for the likes of Luke Briscoe out on the wing. Minikin had struggled for game time with Warrington playing just 23 times across his two seasons with the club but the 28-year-old does bring over 125 games of Super League experience, and fans will be looking forward to seeing him in the team’s new home shirt.
