Featherstone add former Wigan forward

Featherstone Rovers have signed forward Callum Field from Leigh Centurions for the 2021 season.

Field is a Wigan Warriors academy graduate, and made 10 appearances for the club. He also had several loan spells away at Dewsbury Rams, Swinton Lions.

He moved permanently away from the Warriors ahead of the 2020 season, and signed for the Centurions. He made three appearances off the bench for them.

Speaking about the move, Field said: “This past year with Leigh hasn’t gone to plan for me, so I can’t wait to get started with the lads at Featherstone going into next season.

“I want 2021 to be a year to remember and one that will help my career progress to the next level. I know everyone at Rovers are aiming to make that push into Super League, they have been so close in recent years and I want to be involved with the side that achieves this goal.”

Rovers’ Head Coach James Webster added: “I have watched Callum with interest as far back as when he played at Wigan. He has a strong-willed personality that is shown in his tough approach to playing.

“I have been impressed with the conversations we have had around his aspirations not only at Featherstone, but his career as a whole. He fits into the recruitment requirement of being hungry to progress his career further and I feel he has more progression is his ability still to come.”
