Exclusive: Andrew Henderson predicts where Castleford Tigers will finish in Super League

Lee Radford was appointed as Castleford Tigers head coach back in April 2021.

The former Hull FC boss was gearing up to take a defence role at the Dallas Jackals in the USA, but felt that the offer to coach at the Jungle was too good to turn down.

However, Radford was run close to the Castleford job by a former Tiger himself – Andrew Henderson.

After his exit from the Warrington Wolves was confirmed with Daryl Powell taking over from 2022 onwards, Henderson put his name in for the Castleford job.

Instead, the former Castleford hooker was turned down in favour of Radford, with Henderson then taking on the Head of Rugby role at Keighley Cougars.

And, now Henderson has had his say on the matter.

“I was in the frame and being considered for the Castleford job.” Henderson told Serious About Rugby League.

“However, the Castleford board of directors felt that Lee Radford was the right man for the job at this moment in time to take them forward after Daryl Powell – thats the nature of the coaching world and the way it goes.”

Now, Henderson has predicted where the Tigers will finish in this year’s Super League competition.

“Before a ball was kicked I felt they would finish mid table.

“I thought they might be challenging for sixth spot and might finish between sixth and eighth, but I think it’s going to be more of a mid to lower table finish now.”
