Ex-Wigan Warriors star expresses gratitude towards former club ahead of latest big move

For Jackson Hastings, 2022 ended the same way it started.

This time last year, the former Salford Red Devils star was leaving Wigan Warriors as he finally got his return back to the NRL after three and a half impressive seasons in Super League which saw him play in two Grand Finals, win the Man of Steel and win the League Leaders’ Shield in 2020.

After that impressive spell, he made the move to the NRL with Wests Tigers signing a two year deal with the club but after one year he is on the cusp of another big move.

Despite being key to three of Wests’ four wins in 2022, new boss, formerly of Hull KR, Tim Sheens put his trust in Luke Brooks instead allowing Hastings to be part of a swap deal with David Klemmer with Hastings joining Newcastle Knights.

He has now reflected on the 2o22 season expressing his gratitude for the chance Wests gave him but his excitement ahead of his chance with Newcastle Knights.

He took to Twitter to say: “22’ Growth, Change, Opportunity. Some unbelievable moments, some not so good. Although extremely grateful to have played in the NRL again after 4 years for the tigers, now can’t wait to run out in red and blue. Happy NY.”
