Ex-Hull KR boss to replace Ex-Wigan Warriors halfback Jackson Hastings with huge signing

Jackson Hastings has made an impression everywhere he went during his recent career.

At Salford Red Devils he helped steer them away from relegation in 2018 and climb the table in 2019 all the way to third from which they were able to go on and reach the Grand Final after he was crowned Man of Steel.

After this, he joined Wigan Warriors in 2020. He helped them to the top of the league dethroning St Helens who had been run away winners in 2018 and 2019.

However, he would again suffer Grand Final heartbreak at their expense.

Even at Wests Tigers he made an impression as three of their four wins came with Hastings at seven.

However, despite this he has now been allowed to leave the club in a swap deal which sees him join the Newcastle Knights as David Klemmer went the other way.

This came after former Hull KR boss Tim Sheens had said he wouldn’t be leaving. However, his intention was to always play Luke Brooks in the halves and having Hastings at 13, where he finished 2022.

So, with Hastings gone, Sheens needs a 13 and has pursued a big name player to fill the void left by Hastings.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Sheens is in talks with Parramatta Eels star Nathan Brown about a move.

It is the latest of a number of high profile targets including Mitchell Moses and Wigan Warriors star John Bateman.
