“Disgraceful” – Hull FC fans react to major loss as fans call for change

Hull FC

Hull FC suffered another humiliating defeat conceding 50 points for the second week in a row as Huddersfield Giants ran riot and dumped Tony Smith’s side out of the Challenge Cup.

Perhaps the only saving grace was that they didn’t manage to get a try on the board but with the aggregate score of the last two weeks reading as 104-10, it is no consolation whatsoever.

To add insult to injury it was former Hull FC winger Adam Swift who scored four of the ten tries with fellow winger Sam Halsall adding a hat trick of his own as the Giants romped to a 50-6 victory.

Hull FC have been hit hard with injuries this season but they have not helped themselves at all as they’re the team with the worst disciplinary record in Super League, but to ship 50 points in back-to-back weeks is still inexcusable.

That’s the feeling of many fans too who have since taken to social media demanding change at their club.

Losing and conceding 50 points is a humiliating experience for a team and their fans at any time, but to lose consecutive games having conceded 50 points or more is a different level of embarrassment and that was something many Hull FC fans were quick to point out.

One fan called for Tony Smith to be removed for the fact they had conceded more than 100 points in just two games as they added that they were “dreading” facing city rivals Hull KR in the derby on Good Friday.

Another had done the maths for the full season and it didn’t read well, FC averaging just 10 points a game whilst shipping over 35.

Former FC star Jake Clifford made the headlines earlier in the year when he labelled the pre-season as a “piece of piss”, which has understandably led to questions about what exactly has been happening in pre-season.

That same fan then called for owner Adam Pearson to do the fans a “favour” and sell the club, a sentiment that was echoed by several others.

One posted: “Genuinely angry with what is going on at our club right now. Pearson might be the owner but he’s merely a custodian in my eyes and he needs to go and go now. Sell up Adam your done here.”

Off-field mismanagement was noted by another who claimed that “disgraceful off pitch management led to this”.

There were also calls for refunds for the fans that had made the trip across the to the John Smiths Stadium with that poster claiming that “at least they turned up”.

With Hull KR coming off a 40-0 win over what has been an impressive Salford Red Devils side, whilst having also beaten Huddersfield away just last week, then you have to fear for how Hull FC will cope in the derby against Willie Peters’ side.
