Derek Beaumont calls for Leigh Leopards star to be “championed” after amazing act

Sunday, for the second day in a row, we sadly saw a player stretchered off at the Magic Weekend.

Jack Croft was the player this time and it came after a collision with Leigh Leopards winger Josh Charnley.

Croft, playing at centre yesterday, had only just signed for the club once again after leaving the club at the end of last season.

Yesterday there was an update from Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks. She confirmed he was being assessed but that it is mostly precautionary.

She also stated that it was a head and neck issue.

Then a further update came from Sky that he was conscious and talking but wa headed to hospital.

Wakefield yesterday provided an update on Croft: “Crofty has been cleared of any serious injury and will be back in contention to play as soon as the symptoms of his injury settle.”

Now footage of the incident has been shared and Leigh Leopards owner has praised their star player Josh Charnley for how he managed the situation not putting Croft in any further danger by minimising movement:

“What class from Josh Charnley, during our game when he doesn’t move and checks on injured player then when knowing he had a neck and arm issue didn’t retrieve his leg from under him to minimise any risk of movement until medics were happy for him to! This should be championed.”

This came after Charnley showed his class asking for an update on Croft:
