Championship Round 13: Score predictions, kick-off times and TV coverage

Leigh Centurions gleefully gained the 1895 Cup as well as the bragging rights from Featherstone Rovers last week but now the Betfred Championship returns for a 13th round of action, coinciding with the Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations respectively.

Though the nation may be celebrating such a landmark, there is no rest for the wicked in this sport as the remaining 12 clubs gear up for a return to action. Will it be lucky 13 for some? It certainly was not for Dewsbury Rams Head Coach Lee Greenwood who was recently relieved of his duties following his side’s humiliating 66-0 defeat at Halifax Panthers on Tuesday night.

Will he be the only one? Only time will tell as the race for Super League intensifies!

Workington Town vs London Broncos

Two struggling clubs collide as Workington Town host London Broncos. Both have had their troubles on and off the field so it could be a close one. Workington have home advantage but have yet to win in the league so far this season, which is already a major setback in confidence. London though, are only one place above them, hence it will be close. The long trip up North will also make things tougher so that may take it out of them but honestly, this could go either way.

Prediction: Workington Town 16-22 London Broncos
Kick-off time and TV Channel: The game kicks off at 12:30 today with TV coverage starting on Premier Sports at 12:00

Barrow Raiders vs Leigh Centurions

Staying in Cumbria as Barrow Raiders take on Leigh Centurions. The Raiders started the season superbly but have dipped in recent weeks. Not to mention they are missing several key personnel though being at home could see them provide some resistance here. But it should ultimately prove futile as Leigh have recently put together some huge wins together and should give them a huge advantage here. It depends how ‘hungover’ they are, if at all, from their Cup triumph last time out.

Prediction: Barrow Raiders 12-38 Leigh Centurions
Kick-off time: Today 15:00

Newcastle Thunder vs Featherstone Rovers

Fresh from their trip down south, Featherstone Rovers now head up to the North East to face Newcastle Thunder. ‘Fev will be hungry for a return to winning ways for any sign of redemption following their first defeat of the season on the biggest stage. Newcastle should be a tricky proposition especially away but ‘Fev will be too strong and powerful for them on this occasion.

Prediction: Newcastle Thunder 18-38 Featherstone Rovers
Kick-off time: Today 15:00

Sheffield Eagles vs York City Knights

An all-Yorkshire affair as two clubs from iconic English cities go head-to-head in Sheffield against York. The Eagles began with a ‘bang’ at their new home last time out and being back on their artificial surface, could give them an advantage. York have enjoyed a strong season so far and should be slightly favoured but this one could be a thrilling contest and another that could go either way.

Prediction: Sheffield Eagles 24-28 York City Knights
Kick-off time: Today 15:00

Whitehaven RLFC vs Batley Bulldogs

Back in to Cumbria for Whitehaven against Batley. A crucial game for both sides, ‘Haven aiming to climb away from the bottom whereas Batley are still chasing a play-off spot. The Bulldogs should be favoured going by the positioning’s but a long trip could take it out of them.

Prediction: Whitehaven RLFC 16-30 Batley Bulldogs
Kick-off time: Today 15:00

Widnes Vikings vs Bradford Bulls

A former all Super League clash as Widnes Vikings meet Bradford Bulls. Funnily enough, both teams without a Head Coach and in desperate need or win due to their desire for a play-off spot. Another really close call as both do possess previous top level experience and some exciting young talent throughout their squads. They may be lower in the table but Widnes could just get the edge on the Bulls here.

Prediction: Widnes Vikings 24-20 Bradford Bulls
Kick-off time: Today 15:00
