After Sheffield Eagles stunned Toulouse Olympique yesterday, the big story today was the Bradford derby.
Keighley Cougars hosted the Bradford Bulls expecting a big crowd as two teams who made some big signings over the winter collided.
The Bulls went into the game after defeating Sheffield last week in an impressive display and were in the top four but they were stunned by a Luke Gale inspired Cougars side who led 24-0 at the break as both Gale and Dane Chisholm scored.
They went on to win 34-6 in a great day for the club but back to the drawing board for the Bulls.
League leaders Featherstone Rovers continued to impress this time easing to a 46-4 win over York RLFC with Gareth Gale crossing for a hat-trick and Craig Hall nailing seven goals.
There was a comprehensive win for Widnes Vikings too against Newcastle Thunder who backed up their impressive display against Toulouse last week with a comfortable win over the Thunder despite a late flurry from the away side.
In a topsy turvy game at Whitehaven last year’s Grand Finalists scored late to pick up an away win with Meadows’ perfect kicking record proving the difference in a 18-16 win.
There was a similarly close game in the capital as London Broncos edged Swinton Lions and the same could be said of Barrow Raiders against Halifax Panthers with the Raiders inspired by Jarrod Sammutt who scored half of their points in a famous 16-12 win over the brilliant Panthers.
Sheffield Eagles 32-4 Toulouse Olympique
Featherstone Rovers 46-4 York RLFC
Barrow Raiders 16-12 Halifax Panthers
Keighley Cougars 34-6 Bradford Bulls
London Broncos 16-14 Swinton Lions
