Championship club brings in two Hull KR players for 2023 including “highly-sought-after individual”

Newcastle Thunder have announced the exciting signing of Hull KR duo Daniel Okoro and Connor Moore on season-long loans.

It comes after the Thunder have toed down a number of key players for 2023 including the likes of Jake Shorrocks and Mitch Clark.

Now they will be joined by two exciting youngsters for the entirety of 2023.

They are particularly proud of the signing of Okoro whom they describe as “a highly-sought-after individual.”

The 19-year-old stands at 193cm, the hard-hitting prop featured three times for Hunslet whilst on loan throughout 2022. He has already earned an international call-up for Nigeria, featuring twice for the West African nation and scoring two tries.

Okoro’s Hull KR team-mate Connor Moore also joins the ranks at Thunder.

Hard-running and aggressive in defence, the 19-year-old prop featured three times for the Super League club throughout the 2022 season and made four appearances for League 1 side Hunslet whilst on loan.

Newcastle Thunder head coach Chris Thorman said on the club website: “Daniel and Connor are two powerful athletic middles looking to prove themselves.

“It’s fantastic that they’re spending the season on loan with us and I’m thankful to Hull KR for letting us have them. They’re going to bring energy, and their ball-carrying ability is already very good.

“When I’ve spoken to those who know them, I’ve been told that they’ve been working very hard in the off-season, so I think when they rock up the boys will be impressed with what they see.

“I’m excited to have them at the club, especially for the full year. They’ve obviously come from a full-time environment in Hull KR so we’re expecting big things.”
