Castleford v Salford: Predicted line-ups and late injury news

In their final game before their date with destiny at Wembley, Castleford host last year’s Challenge Cup Finalists in the shape of Salford. Both sides appear to be down to the bare bones of their squad with the Tigers calling up a number of academy stars whilst Salford can only name a 17-man squad.

The Tigers only have one senior halfback available in the shape of Danny Richardson and are also without a senior number nine. That means the likes of Jack Sadler and Cain Robb could come into the side as they begin their professional careers. However, the Tigers can rely on some of their big-hitters in the pack such as Liam Watts, Grant Millington and Oliver Holmes whilst the returning Greg Eden will fill the void at fullback.

You’d think predicting Salford’s side would be easy with only 17 names to pick from but getting the right balance will be the tough task facing Richard Marshall. He has St Helens loanees Ben Davies and Dan Norman to his disposal but whether they’ll start remains to be seen. Like Castleford, the Red Devils have some high-profile names in the pack like Harvey Livett and Ryan Lannon. Salford fans will be hoping that being able to name a pair of senior halfbacks in the shape of Dec Patton and Chris Atkin could lead them to victory.
