Castleford laid down a marker in their final pre-season friendly against Huddersfield Giants.

Despite an end to end first half, the score remained 0-0 at the break. Then, Liam Watts gave Cas the advantage 4 minutes into the second half after a quick play of the ball allowed McShane to play quickly and find the prop forward.

2 minutes went and Cas were on the scoresheet after classy play to the wing found Jason Qareqare who passed inside to Jacob Miller, the halfback with an audacious flick pass found centre Sam Wood who crashed over.

56 minutes into the game the Tigers were caught in defence as Swift dived into the corner to add Huddersfield’s first points on the board.

2 minutes later Cas gave the perfect response as a looping pass from Luke Hooley found Josh Simm who dived in the corner to put Tigers 12 points ahead.

The tries kept coming for the Tigers as Sam Wood burst through the line from a Hooley pass as he dotted down for his second of the day.

With 15 minutes to go Jake Connor had a scare as a Jack Broadbent grubber kick dabbled into the in-goal area but the fullback was there to kick the ball dead.

Olly Russell found touch with a 40/20 attempt giving the Giants possession once again. This was then followed up by silky skill by substitute George Flanagan Jr who found Connor Carr in the corner with his first touch of the ball.

Sloppy play from Cas led the ball going to floor, former Tiger Elliot Wallis was there to scoop up the loose ball and race 50 metres.

George Flanagan Jr added the extras and with that, the referee blew for full time and the Tigers claimed the victory against the Giants.
