Castleford burnt by Super League forward’s move to rivals

Hull KR have parted company with Frankie Halton today as he joins Leigh Leopards on a two and a half year deal.

This comes after Luis Johnson returned to the club after a loan spell at Castleford Tigers which was supposed to last the season.

Hull KR announced that they would be recalling Johnson from his loan deal with Castleford Tigers.

The Robins had sent Johnson out on loan to get some more game time as he was far down the pecking order at Craven Park.

He’s since done that becoming a key player in Andy Last’s Castleford side, however he’s now been recalled to his parent club.

Rovers opted to recall him ahead of their Challenge Cup fixture against Championship side Batley Bulldogs. This of course means that he also doesn’t wind up cup tied.

Had he featured for Castleford against Hull FC this weekend then Peters would have been unable to call upon him in the latter rounds.

However, it also seems likely that Johnson was recalled to replace Halton in the squad and provide squad depth in the pack which would now be limited by the departure of Halton.

The Robins are also dealing with an injury crisis.

However, this isn’t good for the Tigers as they struggle for wins.
