Bizarre trespassing incident as couple slept lands star in serious hot water

Gold Coast Titans and Queensland star David Fifita has been served with a breach notice over a bizarre trespassing incident around Christmas last year.

The 21-year-old allegedly – and accidentally – let himself into a stranger’s home while drunk, which would constitute a violation of the game’s code of conduct. That could result in a possible suspension, the Daily Mail has revealed.

Following a night of drinking, Fifita was said to have been invited to a woman’s house in Clear Island Waters, but lost his phone as he got out of an Uber.

Then, reportedly, the Titans main man let himself into the house and stumbled across a couple sleeping – the man allegedly confronted Fifita with a baseball and pursued him onto the street, where the Australian was arrested and questioned by police.

The NRL integrity unit investigated further when NewsCorp reported that the Gold Coast club had brokered a $10,000 payment to the family involved in the incident without telling the NRL, which bankrolled a security gate and cameras.

Ex-Australian superstar Cooper Cronk believes Fifita should have to face the music, even if he misses Origin two due to suspension.

‘Stupid actions like he did in the pre-season deserve consequence,’ the 375-game legend told Fox Sports.

‘If that means him missing a few games then he has to pay the price for that. He owes his state a big performance and he owes the rugby league community a better brand of behaviour.’
