Cade Cust reveals Wigan Warriors are aiming for an incredible treble in 2023

Wigan Warriors' Cade Cust has been one of Salford Red Devils' key signings.

Every season that comes around presents teams in the Super League with three opportunities at silverware with the Challenge Cup and then two league competitions, League Leaders Shield and the ultimate prize of the Grand Final.

During the Super League era the treble has only been achieved three times making it an occurrence approximately once every nine years with Leeds Rhinos being the last side to achieve the feat in 2015.

That hasn’t stopped the confidence of Wigan Warriors’ Cade Cust who believes the side can and will compete for all three, something he’s revealed when speaking on the Sportsman Rugby League’s Youtube channel.

Asked what success in 2023 looks like, Cade replied instantly: “All three.

“If we don’t believe that we can win all three then we shouldn’t be playing this sport, that confidence within the squad that we can do it so that’s the goal.”

Cust had also commented on what his first experience of Super League was like and he made particular reference to the Good Friday derby, something he’s keen for in 2023.

“I absolutely love it, the fans, the coach and the staff. It can only get better from here. We’ve got the belief within the squad that we can win anything so there’s that in the group and it’s instilled in us to build a good culture.

“That Easter Friday game is one you look at straight away and see if we’re home or away, it was quite a surreal experience playing their away so I’m looking forward to getting one back this year.”

Wigan will meet St Helens on ‘Rivals Weekend’ with the game featuring on the same day as the Hull derby in what’s sure to be a brilliant day of rugby league.
