The waiting is now over and it’s time to see if England have what it takes to match it with the best at the Rugby League World Cup.
There have been many talking points discussed around Shaun Wane’s squad selection for this tournament, with Sydney Roosters’ star Victor Radley selected after he opted to play for England over international representation in his homeland of Australia.
The 24-year-old qualifies to play through his father, who is from Sheffield, and BBC pundit James Graham believes the man know as ‘The Inflictor’ will be key to England’s chances of success in the tournament.
On Radley, former England captain Graham said: “I can’t way to see Victor Radley in an England shirt. He is a fire cracker, he plays with so much aggression which is very close to the line.
“But he is also a super skilfull player as well. England do have that ability to play with the ball, especially Victor Radley. He is key to the attack, the way he moves the ball and transitions it from edge to edge.”
Those sentiments were echoed by fellow BBC pundit Jon Wilkin who believes there will be a lot od discussion around Radley as he takes to the field and the tournament progresses.
“Victor Radley is the talking point for the tournament going forward,” said Wilkin. He is a star in the NRL and he has chosen to come and play for England.
“We’re talking about heritage, well there is a guy coming the other way. What a story.”
