Channel 4 launch Try of the Season competition

Channel 4 continues to impress with its new ideas and innovative practices.

And, the latest concept is no different with the terrestrial program launching its ‘Ten best tries of 2022’ competition live this afternoon.

Of course, Channel 4 will be broadcasting St Helens’ home semi-final play-off game against the Salford Red Devils and they will be incorporating the best try of the year award during that program.

It will be the first time that any other broadcaster – other than Sky Sports – has been given rights to cover a Super League semi-final play-off game, but Channel 4 are certainly making waves in 2022.

Before the season started, the terrestrial program signed a two-year deal with the sport to deliver ten live games in 2022.

But, even Channel 4 may have never thought it would have gone as well with viewing figures for every game well into the six figures – and the channel will be hoping for more of the same this afternoon.

It is all set up to be an absolute cracker at the Totally Wicked Stadium with Salford, in particular, in great form going into the semi-final.

The fixture is also a repeat of the 2019 Grand Final in which Saints blew the Red Devils away, but Salford are a different animal in 2022.
