Brett Hodgson has his say on Andre Savelio red card

Hull’s 40-26 loss to Huddersfield was bad enough, but with the Airlie Birds already down to the bare bones, things were made worse when Andre Savelio was red carded as the final hooter sounded.

Savelio and former Hull forward Josh Jones came together after Savelio went to put a shot on Huddersfield substitute Robson Stevens, but head coach Brett Hodgson believed it was down to pure emotion.

“There was a bit of provocation on their part, I think we could have handled that last bit better,” Hodgson said.

“We will assess that if it comes to it, but there was a lot of emotion at the back end of the game, there was a lot of things said between the teams and we will have to deal with that.”

Hodgson was disappointed with how his side executed the gameplan, attacking the inconsistency.

“I’m very disappointed, we prepared very well coming into this game but we weren’t willing to apply enough pressure.

“Our set finishes were either a brilliant kick for a try or a seven tackle set and our discipline let us down.

“It was a perfect night for playing rugby league, there were no excuses for the weather, we were outplayed tonight.”
