SunSport have reported that Salford owner Marwan Koukash is ready to hand the club over to a trustee board.
It is believed that several businessmen in the city are interested in taking over the Red Devils with Koukash willing to release control of the club.
The exuberant millionaire was rumoured to be leaving last week after scheduling a ‘major announcement’, only to reveal the club would be releasing a new crest.
However, it now seems there is some credibility to those rumours with his departure set to see a reduction in costs for current head coach Ian Watson and the club as a whole.
After announcing the departure of Todd Carney two weeks ago, the Australian half-back responded on twitter explaining his departure was down to cost-cutting measures at the AJ Bell Stadium.
The possible departure of Koukash will split many fans with the club losing his wealth, but able to start a fresh after numerous controversies during his tenure.
