New signings feature while O’Brien drops out of Salford squad

Wigan Warriors 16-31 Salford Red Devils

Salford have included new signings Manu Vatuvei and Tyrone McCarthy in their 19-man squad for Sunday’s Challenge Cup semi-final against Wigan.

Ian Watson has also included Robert Lui, who is expected to face a late fitness test, but full-back Gareth O’Brien is not named in the squad.

This is likely to see Niall Evalds switch to the No.1 role with Vatuvei on the wing, as the Red Devils play in their first Challenge Cup semi-final for 19 years.

Meanwhile, their opponents Wigan welcome back Joel Tomkins and Liam Farrell to their 19-man squad for the game at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
