Catalans and French broadcasters are set to go head-to-head to thrash out a live TV deal in time for the Dragons’ fixture against Castleford this weekend.
The contract between Catalans and beIN sports ended following Friday night’s victory over Leeds, with no arrangements present to cover Super League games until the end of the season, League Express has reported.
The French club finance the production costs themselves, with the cost standing at approximately £15,000 per game, but Dragons’ President Bernard Guasch said he is still holding negotiations about the possibility of covering some or all of the remaining five home games.
He told local media in Perpignan: “The broadcast of the Dragons-Leeds game is the last of the season and we are in negotiations with the channel for three or four more matches in Perpignan by the end of the season.
“We have paid for all productions from the Brutus this season as agreed and now we are in discussions about the rest.”
Guasch has spoken out about how important it is to ensure the Catalans club has television rights.
