Woolf: We made too many errors

St Helens Head Coach Kristian Woolf has said his side made too many errors in their defeat against Wigan Warriors.

Saints led 6-0 with half-an-hour gone, but went scoreless in the second half, losing 18-6 to surrender top spot to their bitter rivals.

Woolf was particularly critical of their second half performance.

He said: “We made too many errors in the second half. We spent almost the whole half coming off our try line. Our errors were pure concentration, which you cannot make in a big game.

“A few individuals have learned some hard lessons.

“We wanted a tough game, and got a tough one. We will hope to learn from this.

“We will lick our wounds. We weren’t too far off. We may not have been our best, but we weren’t far off. I am confident we will bounce back, wherever we play next week.”

As it stands, Saints travel to Catalans Dragons on Thursday, but that may change if the Super League regular season is ended early. A meeting about it is due to take place on Monday.
