Williams goads Wigan fans

It’s fair to say that George Williams isn’t the most popular person in Wigan right now.

After turning down a move back to the DW Stadium following homesickness whilst at Canberra Raiders in the NRL, the English halfback signed for Warrington Wolves.

The Wolves offered more for his signature, with chairman Ian Lenagan confirming during the week that Wigan had the upper hand legally in the debate, but that the club let Williams go because of his lack of commitment to the Warriors.

In Warrington’s 10-6 victory over Wigan at the Magic Weekend, Williams was on the scoresheet and boy did he make it known to the Warriors fans that occupied that end of St James’ Park.

The 26-year-old crossed to make it 8-0 after Gareth Widdop had gone close, kicking the ball into the stands and putting his hand to his ear.
