What Wakefield Trinity star Jacob Miller had to say when asked if he will be a Castleford Tigers player in 2023

Castleford Tigers took on Wakefield Trinity at the Jungle on Friday night, live on Sky Sports.

It was an incredible first-half from the visitors as an early try from Liam Hood set the tone for the rest of the 40 minutes.

Lewis Murphy scored a controversial try when he rose highest to a Jacob Miller kick, before Matty Ashurst hit the hammer blow as the half-time whistle blew.

It got even worse for Castleford after the break with some shambolic Tigers defence allowing Wakefield to go into a 30-0 lead.

Danny Richardson did manage a consolation score, but the Castleford fans were absolutely shellshocked at the scene that befell them at a packed Jungle as Mason Lino added another two points for a penalty to make it 32-6 and round the game off.

For Wakefield boss Willie Poching, it was an incredible win and he couldn’t speak more highly of his players.

“Last week was close to our best performance of the season,” Poching said on Sky Sports after the game.

“The challenge for us was to back that up with the right amount of energy from the start.

“We grew into the game, our halves and Liam Hood did a great job of implementing the plan. It was five days to turn around and it was quick, but we looked energetic and enthusiastic.

“The boys deserve a massive rap. “We’ve got to be consistent and take that forward with us now. The way we went about our work defensively was fantastic. The guys to a man deserve a real pat on the back.”

The Sky Sports man of the match, Jacob Miller, was asked about his future by pundit Jenna Brooks after the game to which he remained coy.

When asked about if he will be at the Jungle in 2023, Miller simply replied: “Tonight feels good, I will enjoy it,” Miller joked.

“It’s great to finally get a win over the line.”
