Warrington Wolves suffer major blow ahead of new season

Warrington Wolves new Head Coach Sam Burgess has named his first squad for the new Super League season as they face the difficult task of heading over to France to take on Catalans Dragons. 

The Wire kick-off the new campaign in Perpignan this Saturday 17 February, 5.30pm(UK) / 6.30pm(FRA).

Paul Vaughan is available again having served his four-match suspension. Captain Stefan Ratchford has recovered from a calf issue and is available.

In a blow for the Wolves Rodrick Tai, Matty Nicholson and Joe Bullock are sidelined for the start of the season through injury.

Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Zane Musgrove, Sam Powell and Arron Lindop could all make their Super League debuts for the club.

Catalans Dragons headcoach Steve McNamara has named his 21-Man squad for the Super League opening round against Warrington on Saturday, February 17, kick-off at 6.30pm CET at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium.

New signings Théo Fages, Jayden Nikorima, Tariq Sims, Bayley Sironen, Chris Satae and Jordan Abdull have been named in the squad for the first game of the season.

The staff has taken no risk with captain Ben Garcia who suffers a minor injury.

Reserve team player Franck Maria makes his first appearance in the squad as the club begin a new era in the sport.
