Warrington Wolves recall youngster who has shone in the Championship

Warrington Wolves are one of just two teams to have won their opening three games this Super League campaign and they’ll aim to make it four from four on Friday night.

To do so Daryl Powell has named a strong 21-man squad but it features the surprise return of a young star who has been shining in the Championship.

Riley Dean has been on loan at Featherstone Rovers and has helped Sean Long’s side to the top of the table, even scoring in their Monday night victory over Bradford Bulls.

He’s arguably been the best player in the division so far and that’s seen him recalled into the first team squad and in for contention of playing on Friday evening.

Another young talent who returns if second-rower Matty Nicholson who has been absent for the past two weeks and his return will provide some much-needed help to the forward pack.

For the Wire’s victory over Salford Red Devils last Thursday night their second-row comprised of centre Peter Mata’utia, meaning that the return of Nicholson will be a huge boost.

A third player to return is winger Matty Russell with the veteran winger missing out for the past two fixtures.

Gil Dudson still remains out with injury, whilst Josh McGuire is still serving a suspension.

Star halves pairing George Williams and Josh Drinkwater remain and will look to pick apart a weakened Hull KR side who are without Jordan Abdull, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Kane Linnett and Ethan Ryan.

The three additions to the squad replace Jack Darbyshire, Leon Hayes and Adam Holroyd.
