Warrington still waiting on extent of Ashton injury

Warrington Wolves Head Coach Steve Price has confirmed the club are still waiting to find out the extent of fullback Matty Ashton’s ankle injury.

Ashton was forced off after going over on his ankle in a tackle. He tried to carry on, but ultimately had to come off.

Despite not being able to comment on the severity of the injury, Price confirmed he would definitely be out of Friday’s Challenge Cup tie against Catalans Dragons.

He said: “He will go for a scan tonight. We will know over the next 24 hours. It was just unfortunate that the bank holiday fell when it did.

“He will definitely be out this weekend.

“He copped a serious one last year with his hamstring. Unfortunately, it’s just the way the game is, it can be cruel and brutal at times.

“He made a good half-line but came down on his ankle. It was an unfortunate position. Hopefully we get some good news after the scan.

“He has worked hard to get in this position, so fingers crossed for him.”
