Warrington partake in incredible gesture

Say what you want about the sport of rugby league, but it really does pull together when times need it most.

With Warrington’s game against Catalans called off last night due to a COVID outbreak in the Dragons’ camp, the Wolves launched their own initiative to ensure their match day food didn’t go to waste.

Instead of throwing it away – or trying to salvage some of it – the club served over 300 meals to children who qualify for free school meals and who have participated in the Warrington Foundation’s summer holiday camps in the past month or so.

With the campaign for free school meals already transcending sport following the awareness-raising done by Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, Warrington’s actions will forever be remembered by those who went home with a full stomach last night.
