Wakefield Trinity winger Tom Johnstone could be set for stunning move – but not to Catalans Dragons

Earlier in the week, Tom Johnstone was linked with a move to Catalans Dragons.

That was courtesy of Yorkshire Live which linked the Wakefield Trinity winger to the south of France.

But, now the Daily Telegraph has reported that South Sydney Rabbitohs have taken a shine to the flying winger in a bid to improve their squad for 2023.

South Sydney have taken an interest in Wakefield winger Tom Johnstone as they look to bolster their outside backs for next season.

The Telegraph has reported: “Johnstone, a try scoring machine in the English Super League, has flirted with the NRL in the past and it is understood the Rabbitohs are among the clubs monitoring the situation.

“His potential defection to the NRL comes as English power-brokers descend on Magic Round in search of signings for next season.”

Johnstone has become one of the most sought-after backs in Super League after wowing with some incredible finishes and his  electric pace.

A deal was understood to be close, according to Rugby League live, with Johnstone out of contract at the end of the 2022 Super League season.

Catalans centre, meanwhile, Dean Whare is also out of contract with the Dragons reportedly offering his services to other clubs.
