Wakefield Trinity forced to change another fixture due to stadium issue

Wakefield Trinity have unfortunately been forced to change another fixture due to a problem with their stadium.

In pre-season, Wakefield Trinity introduced the world to their brand new stand at a revamped Belle Vue after stadium work which will surely see them return to Super League in 2025. However, their grand opening was undermined by an electrical fault that saw their game against Wigan Warriors abandoned.

Then last week the club announced that their home fixture against Doncaster would instead be played away and they would instead host Doncaster later in the year.

This was due to a water supply issue and the same problem has seen the club confirm that their meeting against York will now also take place away.

The club issued the following statement: “Wakefield Trinity’s fixture against York RLFC Knights on Sunday 14th April will now take place at the LNER Community Stadium.

“Work is still ongoing on the critical water supply issue within the Neil Fox MBE Stand and the club could not guarantee work would be completed in time for the game against York. The club are still continuing to work with Morgan Sindall in order to solve the issue.

“The club would like to apologise to fans once again for the need to switch the fixture following on from the Doncaster game being moved last week. We have acted as quickly as possible in order to allow fans as much time to make arrangements for the game.

“Trinity would like to thank York for their complete understanding of our current situation and allowing us to switch the game. We look forward to welcoming them to the DIY Kitchens Stadium in September.

“Tickets already purchased for the Sunday 14th April fixture originally planned for the DIY Kitchens Stadium will still be valid for the fixture which will now take place on Sunday 15th September.

“Anyone who can no longer make the game at the DIY Kitchens Stadium will be entitled to a full refund and is encouraged to contact our retail store.

“Season Ticket holders will need to purchase a ticket for the game which will take place on Sunday 14th April at the LNER Community Stadium. Season Tickets will be valid for the game now at the DIY Kitchens Stadium which will take place on Sunday 15th September.

“Fans can purchase tickets for the game at the LNER Community Stadium on Sunday 14th April from the York RLFC Knights ticket website here.
