Toulouse snap up versatile outside back

Toulouse Olympique have confirmed the signing of versatile outside back Latrell Schaumkel.

The 26-year-old, who has played for North Sydney Bears and Newtown Jets in Australia, has spent the past few months impressing for French Elite One Championship side Villeneuve, scoring 13 tries in 11 games.

A Niue international, Schaumkel can play in the centres or on the wing and is the club’s second signing in the past week, following Hull KR prop Mitch Garbutt.

Toulouse club president Bernard Sarrazain added: “Latrell is lively, fast and powerful. He is a formidable finisher who will make us even more dangerous offensively. In addition, his versatility allows us to cover all outside back positions.”
